Scripture: Nehemiah
9:4-6
4Now on the Levites’
platform stood Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani and Chenani, and they cried
with a loud voice to the LORD their God.
5Then the Levites, Jeshua,
Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah and Pethahiah, said,
“Arise, bless the LORD your God forever and ever!
O
may Your glorious name be blessed
And
exalted above all blessing and praise!
6 “You
alone are the LORD.
You
have made the heavens,
The
heaven of heavens with all their host,
The
earth and all that is on it,
The
seas and all that is in them.
You
give life to all of them
And
the heavenly host bows down before You.
A. He is the ETERNAL Creator
vs. 5a
“Arise, bless the LORD
your God forever and ever!
In honor
of God the Israelites stood to their feet and joined together as one as
the Levites led in Praise and adoration of God.
The phrase “forever and ever” speaks
of the eternality of God. When
Moses was sent to liberate Israel he asked, who shall I say sent me. In Exodus
3:14 God said
to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.”
Matthew Henry says, “This explains his name Jehovah, and signifies, that he is
self-existent; he has his being of himself, and has no dependence upon any
other: the greatest and best man in the world must say, By the grace of
God I am
what I am; but God says
absolutely—and it is more than any creature, man or angel, can say—I am
that I am. Being self-existent, he
cannot but be self-sufficient, and therefore all-sufficient, and the
inexhaustible fountain of being and bliss.”
B.
He is the EXALTED Creator
vs. 5b
“O may Your glorious
name be blessed
And
exalted above all blessing and praise!”
The
Bible declares that “The
fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, they
have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good.”
Psalm
14:1 To
deny Him is to deny the reality of creation.
See Romans
1:20,21 For
since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal
power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through
what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they
knew God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks; but they became
futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
C.
He is the EXCLUSIVE Creator vs. 6
1. He
Alone is God
“You alone are the LORD.
Lord, Thou hast been our dwelling place in all
generations. Before the mountains were born, Or Thou didst give birth to
the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art
God.
Psalm 90:1,2
“Declare
and set forth your
case; Indeed, let them consult together. Who has announced this from of
old? Who has long since declared it? Is it not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, A righteous God and a Savior; There
is none except Me.
Isaiah 45:21
2. He
Alone Made the Heavens, the Earth and Sea
We
cannot create by fiat, and we do not know how God could. To say that he
created “out of nothing” is to confess a mystery, not explain it. Genesis
1:1 “In the beginning God
created the heavens and the earth.”
That is
a biblical fact! See also Psalm
89:11; The
heavens are Thine, the earth also is Thine; The world and all it contains,
Thou hast founded them. He’s
the Potter; we the clay.
3. He
Alone Gives and Sustains Life
The
stability of the universe depends on constant divine upholding; this is a
specific ministry of the divine Son , Colossians
1:17. “He
is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”
4. He
Alone is Worshiped
Exodus 20:3-6 “You shall have no other gods before Me. “You
shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven
above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. “You
shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the
children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,
but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My
commandments.” John
3:23,24
“But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers
shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father
seeks to be His worshipers. “God is spirit, and those who worship Him
must worship in spirit and truth.”
Have
you learned to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth? If you have never
received Christ as you Savior, you have no assurance of
heaven. Why not
trust Him today? If you know
Him, take heart. He loves you!
Thanks
for reading this message. DO YOU have need of salvation? God's Word
tells us to repent of our sins and come to God
accepting the fact that Christ died on the cross, rose from the dead and
paid the full penalty for all that come to Him in faith.
See
John 6:35-40
35Jesus
said to them, “I
am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who
believes in Me will never thirst. 36“But
I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe. 37“All
that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I
will certainly not cast out. 38“For
I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him
who sent Me. 39“This
is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose
nothing, but raise it up on the last day. 40“For
this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and
believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up
on the last day.”
For those of us who know the Savior, we must make every
effort to avoid sin, but should we
sin, (and we know we will, right?), let us keep our sins confessed up to date.
Let us pray for those who serve God while we ourselves serve HIM. Let
us lay hold of every occasion
and opportunity to minister as God directs and enables us.
Here are some points to consider:
Have you found a church home? If you are in the
area of Port St Lucie, why not visit us?
Have
you found new life in Christ? Why not come to Him today? God will receive those who will come to
Him. He has provided the
means for you to be saved, baptized and be a part of His New Testament
Local Church ministry -- He gave His Son to intercede; all you need to do
is cast yourself upon His mercy and grace.
Jesus said in John
6:37-40
38
“For I have come down from heaven,
not to do My own will, but the
will of Him who sent Me. 39
“And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all
that He has given Me I lose nothing,
but raise it up on the last day. 40
“For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds
the Son and believes in Him, may have
eternal life; and I Myself will raise him
up on the last day.”
It
is important to note Luke's comment in Acts
4:12
“And
there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven
that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.”
